5. Monkey Bar Gym
Monkey bar gym is owned by Jon Hinds who saw the need to give people a place that was really fun to workout at. A place that did movements that are innate in all of us, 110% functional, and done in a group setting where camaraderie, challenge and encouragement are as normal as breathing. The way they train at MBG builds individual strength & confidence, and also community strength & confidence.
At MBG their philosophy is based on three foundations that build on one another to produce the most holistic approach in the industry: Natural Training, Restoration Yoga, and Plant-Based Nutrition . By engaging in this “Wheel of Life,” you will learn the skills necessary to rebuild and realign your body, train like a warrior, and eat plant strong. Combined, these three aspects are called MBG3.
MBG has over five locations spread across the length and breath of the United States with each location offering the best services available for members.
MBG is located at 1876 E Washington Ave, Madison, WI 53704. Their website can be looked up to obtain the necessary info about their gym www.monkeybargym.com

Stephanie said in her review that Monkey Bar Gym is great. It’s functional fitness in a community-based setting. The crowd is diverse – young, old, buff, a little softer, etc! The variety of skill level makes it very inviting. The classes are fun and the trainers are very willing to help. As a newer person, she’s been able to dive in at the basic level and I feel great. One note – they tend towards vegetarianism, so if you’re Paleo, just be forewarned that they like beans and tofu. There is tons of common ground of course as we all love vegetables and do our best to avoid processed foods. They’re accepting of my lifestyle and honestly, MBG is perfect for paleo people.
